Become a SnowBall Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the SnowBall Classic!
As an initiative of DanceSport BC, a non-profit organization, the SnowBall Classic depends on its volunteers to make the event a success. Year after year, our guests comment on the professionalism and friendliness of our volunteers.
SnowBall greatly appreciates the efforts of its volunteers and is always looking for ways to improve the volunteer experience. Some of the services we provide to our volunteers are:
- A volunteer orientation
- A secured volunteer room for storage of coats and personal belongings
- Lunch and dinner for volunteers working over a meal time
- Snacks throughout the day
- A volunteers’ evaluation to help us improve for the following year
There are a large number of volunteer positions that must be filled. There are two types of positions: 1. Event only positions, and 2. Committee and Assistant positions.
Each position involves different tasks, responsibilities and skills — there is something for everyone!
We have certain expectations of all our volunteers: to follow through on their commitments; to follow the guidelines that apply to their positions (e.g. dress code); to be good representatives of SnowBall to our guests, who come from all over the world; and to have fun!
Generally speaking, volunteer shifts are four to eight hours long. However, this varies according to the position. For example, shifts for runners, ushers and marshals run the length of a competition session, while shifts for security volunteers may start earlier or end later than other shifts.
We do not expect our volunteers to fill specialized positions. St. John Ambulance provides First Aid services, and we hire professional cashiers and a certain percentage of our security personnel.
To volunteer, please fill out and email to us the SnowBall 2010 Volunteer Form.
